Upper Murrumbidgee Waterwatch engages the community in the environment through monitoring and caring for our catchments. We educate and raise awareness in schools and the community on issues concerning catchment health and we use data collected by volunteers to inform policy and on ground catchment management. The Upper Murrumbidgee is part of the Murray Darling Basin and a tributary of the Murray River, Australia's longest river. The Upper Murrumbidgee River starts at its headwaters in the Snowy Mountains, flows down towards Canberra and then flows down past Yass to Burrinjuck Dam. Canberra is the biggest city in the Murry-Darling basin.
